So I am more than just a little skeptical about this place given that A)it is in Vegas and that town has a reputation for less than respectable treatment of chicks and B) they use the phrase ‘stunning gun girls’ (barf). I almost clicked off the page when I saw that phrase. I mean, come on… really? Justified, however, by the fact that I need to keep up with gun news across the country, I continued reading. Admittedly, I rolled my eyes when I read most of the article, but then it caught me. See below:

Only in America: Las Vegas to open ‘ultra gun lounge’ where guests are trained by ‘gun girls’

By Travelmail Reporter

Last updated at 2:40 PM on 26th October 2011

Las Vegas is well known as a destination where — if such things are to your liking — you can indulge in a few days of heavy gambling and partying.

But now it seems that visitors to Sin City will be able to try their hand at another, rather more dangerous pastime — shooting automatic weapons.

Before the year is out, America’s most notorious city will see the doors open on a club where guests will be allowed — and encouraged — to fire high-powered rifles.

Glamourising gun culture: A message on the website for Machine Guns Vegas tells would-be guests to ‘Rent a gun & buy a bullet’

The brainchild of Genghis Cohen, the impresario behind Tabu, an infamous club at the city’s MGM Grand Hotel, Machine Guns Vegas is set to open on December 15.

Situated just behind the Mirage Hotel near the city’s central Strip, Las Vegas’s first ‘ultra gun lounge’ will glamourise the use of firearms.

Guests will be taught how to fire weapons by ‘stunning gun girls’.

‘The world is now ready for a “Gun Lounge”,’ Mr Cohen says. ‘Stunning “Gun-Girls” trained in gun-handling [will] look after VIP guests.’

Mr Cohen is quick to dismiss any safety concerns, commenting that:

‘All Machine Guns Vegas girls are certified Range Safety Officers through the National Rifle Association.’

And while the ‘lounge’ will have a luxurious atmosphere, alcohol will not be allowed on site.

(Here comes the good part. Drum roll please…)

However, the club will actively link gun use to fashion and high-end brands.

‘Louis Vuitton and Prada accessories for your guns and ammunition are available for purchase’, Mr Cohen continues.

…

And that, my firearm fashionistas, is all I needed to hear. I have long dreamed of owning a Gucci gun rug or a Louie range bag. Could my dreams be coming true? I plan to check it out while I am at SHOT show this year. Until then, I will continue to long for the day when those mythical haute couture gun accessories become a reality. Who’s with me?

jQuery(window).load(function(){
    jQuery("#nivoslider-3832").nivoSlider({
        effect:"fade",
        slices:15,
        boxCols:8,
        boxRows:4,
        animSpeed:500,
        pauseTime:3000,
        startSlide:0,

        keyboardNav:true,
        pauseOnHover:true,
        manualAdvance:true
    });
});

Step 1- Take thin, horizontal sections and back-comb the full base of your head. Create a cushion at the base, by pressing the hair down, from length to scalp. Each additional section may, but is not required to, incorporate the former section. Goal: Make your hair full and cushiony at the scalp.

Step 2- Using a bristle brush, smooth over the top of your hair, in the direction you wish the hair to move.

Step 3- Gather the hair to the preferred side & fasten with a hair tie. Tighten the pony, by pulling on the length, causing the hair tie to tighten toward the scalp. You may also want to fluff or rough up the crown area, to make fuller and/or more “messy.”

Step 4- If you have layers or bangs, softly slide them over to the side, tuck behind the ear, or fasten with a decorative pin or barrette.

Voila! There you have it, my sidearm sisters. Now go hit that range and be the firearm fashionista you were always meant to be! Much more to come….

She’s a young, media savvy firearms expert who, as you’ll see below, loves fashion as much as we do. Check out her latest contribution to GunNuts.com:

I’m going to take a moment to talk about one of my favorite subjects: the combination of women’s fashion and concealed carry. One of my favorite stores, Vince, just rolled out their fall line and I went in to take a look around (I know it’s still summer, this is how the fashion world works, don’t stress too much trying to figure it out). Of course whenever I shop for clothes I end up thinking about how I would be able to, or perhaps not be able to, carry with a particular garment.

Right now seems to be the time to put that P238 in an appendix holster because the designers are actually giving us clothes we could carry with. In fact, what I noticed wandering the mall is that loose shirts with pleats or ruching seem to be everywhere in the fall lines. These loose-bottom pleated shirts are perfect for carry — the way they bunch means you have room to stash a small firearm and the pleats mean printing isn’t going to be a problem since there are already lines and folds in the fabric.

Pistols and Mani-Pedis – What’s my idea of the perfect day? Hmm… I’d say a combo of firepower and pampering. Could hitting the range with the girls followed by a spa-style pedicure sound any more perfect? No. No it could not. You and the girls relax in your favorite massage chairs and compare targets as the ladies scrubbing those digits of yours wonder what on earth that black powder under your fingernails could possibly be. You’ll want to be sure to get the manicure after the shooting, of course, to spare it from the wrath of your magazine. Don’t forget to tote along your favorite polish hue. I do believe those toenails will look marvelous in a shimmery shade of iridescent gunmetal. OPI makes that shade, right?

Winchesters and Wine - This one is a tribute to all my friends who live in or near wine country. Those lucky ladies who sip wine every night (at least they do in my head) and stare out at stunning vistas in their copious amounts of free time. No, I’m not at all jealous, why? Just picture it- charging up the rolling hills of grape vines and, after a challengingly fabulous day of taking out all those pesky clay pigeons, kicking up your feet to watch the sun go down over the merlot, cabernet and zin.

The only cautionary note on this one is to be sure and start your drinking *after* you finish with those shotguns. Pshh. As if I had to tell any gun-toting girl that.

Sigs and Sushi- For good measure, you might wanna toss a little Japanese Sake down the hatch, too. I’m partial to Sig Sauer (or simply, ‘Sig,’ for those of us who know them well) because that was the first make of gun for me to own. Feel free to modify If you’re not a sushi or Sig girl. Substitute them for Smith & Steak (or Salad or Salami.)

Shoot It and Shake It- Hit the range then hit the dance floor. What better way to cap off an hour or two putting lead on paper than by stepping out for a little Salsa and Tango. Focus on those targets, then focus on the boys at the bar. Or, perhaps choose version 2.0 of this idea in which “shaking it” entails a booty-blasting round of Zumba. No doubt the lovely Shemane Nugent, Uncle Ted’s incongruously hot wife, would lead the charge on such an outing.

Bullets and Botox -…what? I live in LA. I don’t judge.

Magnums and Movies - Ideally you could screen a film or show with Tom Selleck as the leading man just for giggles, but as that might be a little hard to come by these days, the latest action/adventure flick will do. For a challenge, look up the film on the Internet Movie Firearms Database (yes, it exists) and see which of the guns in the film you can identify, you have previously shot, or you dream of one day shooting. This is how I met the revered (and feared) .50 caliber Desert Eagle handgun. Thank you, Demi Moore in Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle.

And finally…
Shooting and Shopping - Though rarely have the words ‘Glock’ and ‘Prada’ been mentioned in the same sentence up to this point in history, I do believe I see the revolution on the horizon. I feel certain that if Big had taken Carrie to the gun range even once, Ms. Bradshaw certainly would have ditched smoking cigarettes (blech) for smoking barrels (yay!) in a New York minute. And she would have, without question, owned these Chanel heels.

Ever wonder what you should wear to an indoor range, and more importantly, how to do it in style? We've got you covered.

You just finished reading Looks for the Indoor Range on Girls Guide to Guns. Please consider leaving a comment!

While the indoor range is a bit more of a controlled environment than an outdoor range in theory, we have fallen victim to more than one ejected hot shell. And not just our own. You’ll occasionally find yourself stationed next to a less-than-responsible neighbor who disregards the trajectory of his brass. And that trajectory can ultimately end up raining down right on you. Not cool, neighbor. Not cool.

Aside from eye and ear protection, the next most significant hazard (assuming you’re following all of your safety rules, of course) are the shells. They can pester you in a couple of ways including knocking you off balance by stepping on them as well as searing you just a touch as they come flying out of your slide.

Eye and ear protection will safeguard your vital sensory organs from the flying shells, but you should plan ahead to keep your bare skin protected as well. This means long sleeves, jeans or leggings, and close toed shoes. While you might be thinking that most of these articles of clothing are pretty standard issue, there is one other factor we should warn you about. Those burning hot little shells can get lodged in some pretty unusual and extremely uncomfortable places. Namely, your cleavage.

Ms. Tactical herself, Aysha Webb, told me about a regrettable experience early in her shooting career in which she was firing her 9mm Glock and a shell stuffed itself right down her shirt. Yowch! She has since resolved to wear high-necked shirts when she shoots. If, like me, you are one of those girls who doesn’t own a high-necked or collared shirt, simply throw on a scarf, sweater or jacket. Anything to protect what you’re mama gave ya, ifyaknowwhatI’msayin’. Your significant other will appreciate the effort.

Beyond caring for your bazooms, you’ll also want to protect that doll face of yours. Sunscreen won’t do the job on this one. Only a hat will cover it. Aysha and the folks at American Defense Enterprises never shoot pistols without their lids. Neither do the ladies on the pro handgun circuit like Julie Goloski and Jessie Abbate. The logic is based on the same principle as looking out for your knockers – hot brass hurts. And you want to avoid touching it. Especially with your face.

Comfortable, solid shooting shoes are vital. Just like a dancer, if a shooter doesn’t have the right shoes, the results can be disastrous. Since most male shooters aren’t worried about impressing anyone by wearing high heels, this issue, not unlike the cleavage factor, is exclusive to the ladies. I suppose a guy could make the mistake of wearing flip flops while he shoots, but I can promise you he’ll only do it once.

You might be thinking that these fashion parameters are some pretty stringent requirements for the range, but trust me, you’re better safe than sorry on this one. You also might be thinking that this dress code severely limits your options for looking cute on that first date at the range with the cutie from the gun store. Not to worry, I’ve got ideas for you.

As you know, we at Girl’s Guide are big on boots. Slip in to some some skinny jeans or leggings and wear your boots over them for a classy, updated, equestrian look.

Not unlike a soothing Sinatra standard, the jeans over boots look never goes out of style:

Here are a couple of ideas for long sleeves and scarves:

Skirts are also a cute option as long as you cover those stems with some thick tights or leggings. Par example:

These are just a few ideas you can mix and match for an appropriate yet stylized wardrobe at the range. Let’s face it, your typical eye and ear protection are pretty, well… in a word, humbling. But your outfit doesn’t have to be.

Keep in mind that you’ll probably want to go with darker colors and fabrics that wash well since that gun powder has an uncanny ability to end up all over everything.

Now grab your gun and go glam up that range!

Boots are the perfect accessory for any range girl. Check out our list of favorites this season.

You just finished reading Beloved Boots on Girls Guide to Guns.

We here at Girl’s Guide are pretty picky about a lot of things. From food to ammunition to men, you’ll find that we are choosy in general and we highly encourage our readers to be just as selective. Our favorite area about which to be exclusive, however, is definitely fashion. When we’re wielding our firearms in the great outdoors or back at our favorite indoor range, we’re gonna look good doing it.

Two things you need in a shoe when you are shooting: (1) A fully covered toe, because you don’t want those hot shells burning your pinkie toe when you’re in target practice, now do you? And (2) you need to be able to feel the floor and be as stable as possible so you don’t eat it by slipping on that freshly ejected hot brass.

Enter: the boot, which just happens to be my all time favorite shoe. Rain or shine, you can find me in a boot. OK, sometimes flip flops. But mostly boots. They serve so many wonderful purposes- UGGs for the beach, high-heeled boots for a date, snow boots, rain boots, ski boots- you name the situation, there is a boot to cover it. That fact makes them an essential part of any shooter’s wardrobe.

One thing we’ve learned the hard way is that low or flat boots are critical when you are taking your gun for a spin. No complaints there, because low boots just happen to be perfectly “in” this season. And just in case you don’t have your own list of favorites compiled, we’ll get you off to a running start with the selection below. – Natalie

Keeping a clear view of your target is critical for safety (our very favorite thing) and accuracy when you’re shooting. And if you’re anything like the ladies here at Girl’s Guide, your two goals on the range are to shoot well and look good doing it. No matter what length of hair you might have (other than the oh-so-cute pixie or bob cuts), your locks can easily get in the way of both of the aforementioned objectives. Fear not- we’ve got options.

We loved the revival of the braid in the summer of 2010 so much that we are absolutely demanding to keep it around. Evidently, we’re not the only ones.

Emily Rossum loose top side braid blends beautifully into her pony tail. This style is a perfect way to sweep long bangs away from your eyes so you can stay focused on your perfect sight picture.

Selena Gomez’s loose side not-quite-French braid is super practical for your time at the range and transitions well to any other occasion or event you might be headed to after you finish your target practice.

Updated Pony Tail

Minka Kelly of ‘Friday Night Lights’ fame brings a 50s-era ‘do back in a big way. Her stylist used a large barrel curling iron to create curls around her head, he said in an interview in InStyle online. Once the curls are ready, he suggests flipping your head upside down, brushing it up high and securing it. He covered her hair tie with strands of her own hair, but feel free to use extensions, if needed.

Kate Hudson’s stylist also used a large barrel curling iron to create her volumized, loose low pony tail. Bring down individual strands with a comb or fingertips to finish the polished look with an effortless quality.

Liv Tyler brings a sleek sensibility to this low, short pony tail.

It’s fun, sporty, and most importantly, it passes the ‘practical’ test for the range. Pair it with some fantastic earrings, as Liv does in this shot, and you’re good to go for any outing on the books after you squeeze in your target practice.

Take a cue from Kristen Bell and add a headband if you’ve got bangs you need to keep out of your eyes. Much like Liv Tyler’s ‘do above, simply add lengthening earrings- hoops or drop earrings work well – and you’ve got yourself a gorgeous style that will last long into the evening.

As you can see here, it doesn’t take much effort to give yourself a little style that makes you feel more feminine among all those boys at the range. Be noticed first for your style, then wow them with your aim.

When you think of guns, the next word that comes to mind is probably not gonna be “fashion”. But one thing guns are associated with is the military, right? And it just so happens that the couture runways took some serious inspiration from the armed forces this season. Check out this photo from Fashion For Lunch:

And, of course, we LOVE what’s going on over at VOGUE. Here’s a little taste of their observations from the runways.

And because we can never get enough of them, more from VOGUE (via Sun Rainy):

So It’s a lovely Saturday morning. My friend has just arrived at the airport. We’ve got a wedding to hit later that day, so after picking her up at the Southwest Terminal, we head straight for iced lattes and a mani/pedi. This is a particular treat for me because A) I only get my hands and feet done about twice a year and B) because Sunday is my birthday and this birthday girl is gonna be lookin’ her absolute best for her guests, if ya know what I’m sayin’.

Toes and tips freshly moisturized and painted, we head off to the wedding and proceed to party our knickers off. Not literally, of course. (Though I can’t speak for a few of the bridesmaids.)

The next day (birthday), what would I rather do than head straight to the shooting range to break in my brand new Sig Sauer P250 9mm? She’s a beaut, by the way. I’ve already bedazzled the case (see below) and I’m taking name suggestions for her in the comment section.

My friend and I get to the range and after a few smirks and many compliments on my bedazzled case, we proceed to our lane. Now, if you haven’t experienced the thrill and rush of joy when you open you very own brand new firearm… well, the best I can do is liken it to receiving your first pair of diamond earrings or holding the keys to your first car. It’s a moment you’ll never forget.

Before you can shoot, though, you’ve got to load up the magazine, right? Therein lies the drama. Did I mention that we’re discussing magazines that carry ammunition, as opposed to Cosmo or Vogue? For the brand new gun-totin’ gals, the magazine is the part of the gun that feeds the bullets into the chamber so they can be fired. It keeps you from having to load one bullet at a time and it’s often mistakenly referred to as a “clip”. (Now go impress the man in your life with that info.) Back to the story:

It’s Magazine versus Manicure and this fight doesn’t look like a fair one. The stage is set…

Ladies and gentlemen, in the right hand we have brand new target ammo. Though it’s not the toughest or heaviest of bullets, it has been made for this day and is fully prepared to take down anything that falls in its path. Including your fingernail polish.

On the left hand we have a freshly painted manicure. Some might have confidence in the manicure, having dried for 24 hours at this point and with the promise from Sally Hansen that it will be “hard as nails”, but the audience is bracing for a blood bath which, incidentally, would be a fabulous name for the newest shade of deep red from OPI. I’m just sayin.

Ding! Ding!

Round 1: Bullet slides into the mag without a problem. Manicure unscathed. Whew! Close one.

Round 2: Ouch! Ok, its just a little scratch in the topcoat. Shake it off. It can be repaired tonight at home.

Round 3: Maintaining…

Round 5: Crap. That gash went all the way to the bottom coat.

Round 10: Almost a quarter of my thumbnail polish is gone. We’re down to the bare nail, people.

Round 15: With half of my thumbnail polish gone, it’s official. The magazine takes this one. Tragic but true.

But my manicure wants a rematch! It turns out there is a solution to my digit woes and it comes in the form of (drum roll, please)…

the Speed Loader!

Behold, my friends:

Click here to view the embedded video.

I hope you watched every second of that video. What? You didn’t? OK, neither did I, but the first 10 seconds sure were pretty informative, weren’t they? Speed loaders are super efficient and here’s the best part: they spare your manicure from the wrath of your mag.

One speed loader tip I’ve learned thus far: find the right one for your gun. They are somewhat magazine specific, so be sure that the guy (or girl, hopefully) behind the counter gives you the right one for your firearm.

Load ‘em up and fire away!!
