I’ll be shooting this little beauty for the first time today. She’s a 22-caliber derringer. Below are some of the specifics. I’ll report back with some video for you! Send me questions- I’ll ask experts and get some solid information for you!
From Wikipedia:
A derringer is generally the smallest usable handgun of a given caliber. They were frequently used by women, because they are easily concealable in a purse or stocking (or boot!!) gun. … The original cartridge derringers held only a single round, usually a pinfire or rimfire .40 caliber cartridge, with the barrel pivoted sideways on the frame to allow access to the breech for reloading.
Henry Deringer (October 26, 1786 – February 28, 1868) was an American gunsmith. He invented, and gave his name to the Deringer pistol. Further development and copying of his design resulted in the derringer (note the double-r) pistol that was generically manufactured widely by other companies.
